Located at the southeastern part of Redwood City, the neighborhood of Friendly Acres is bordered by Woodside Road to the north, Highway 101 to the east, Marsh Road to the south, and El Camino Real to the west. This charming neighborhood is a blend of single-family residences and multi-family residences, as well as industrial and commercial developments. Single-family residences in the area tend to be single-story, and usually feature two to three bedrooms and one or two bathrooms. House sizes here range between 800 square feet and 1,500 square feet on lots that average between 5,000 square feet and 6,000 square feet.
Stanford Medicine recently opened a large facility in this neighborhood where doctors can perform outpatient procedures in addition to research and development. Other notable commercial developments in this area include a branch office for Genentech and the headquarters for Ampex Data Systems Corporation.
Depending on the location of a home, assigned schools may be Hoover Elementary, Taft Elementary, John F. Kennedy Middle, Sequoia High School, or Menlo-Atherton High School. Hoover Elementary enrolls students in grades K–8 and has over 850 students, and a student-teacher ratio of 21:1. Taft Elementary enrolls students in grades K–5 and has an enrollment of over 550 students, and a student-teacher ratio of 18:1. Taft Elementary feeds into John F. Kennedy Middle, which boasts an enrollment of over 800 students, and a student-teacher ratio of about 20:1. Sequoia High School has an enrollment of over 1,800 students, and a student-teacher ratio of about 19:1. Menlo-Atherton High School has an enrollment of over 1,900 students, and a student-teacher ratio of 19:1.
