About

The beautiful Country Club neighborhood, perched along the foothills of San Antonio Open Space Preserve, was aptly named after the Los Altos Golf & Country Club. This area was initially purchased by Santa Clara University as a second branch in the hopes that Los Altos would rival neighboring Palo Alto as an academic town. The 1906 earthquake shattered those plans and the tract was resold and subdivided, and what was once supposed to be a university became a prestigious member-owned country club and stunning neighborhood. From the neighborhood’s 700-acre tract, 155 acres were assigned to the club itself, while the remainder was subdivided for residential plots, resulting in a picturesque community.

The breathtaking views are a source of local pride, which look out onto the rolling hills of the Los Altos Golf & Country Club. Many of the homes sit on luxuriously spacious lots generally ranging from a quarter acre to a full acre, displaying a variety of architectural styles from rustic single-family, to original 1940s homes nestled amongst a plethora of modern dream homes. The beautiful tree canopy throughout keeps the original bucolic neighborhood feel intact.

While the post office address reads Los Altos, the neighborhood is actually located in unincorporated Santa Clara County. This does not generally impact residents as the county civic services, such as the sheriff instead of the Los Altos police department, are also excellent. The greatest difference is that the county building department has more liberal standards for redevelopment. In the Country Club neighborhood, you can build homes that are larger and in a speedier timeframe than you can in the city of Los Altos. Developers know this, and are purchasing and rebuilding properties in this already beautiful yet constantly evolving neighborhood.

Some of the most prestigious and charming streets include the beautifully tree-lined Arbor Avenue, with its flat, level, and expansive lots sprinkled with newly built homes throughout. This avenue is buzzing on Halloween with costumed children running from decorated house to decorated house, as this is a landmark destination for trick-or-treaters. The many clients that DeLeon Realty helped purchase homes on this street cherish the fraternal feeling amongst fellow residents. This neighborhood offers an attractive combination of strong appreciation potential, as evidenced by all of the new construction, with a high quality of life made possible by the tight-knit community. The neighborhood provides both a central location, yet in a very private, neighborly setting since only residents have reason to be here. Country Club provides excellent access to downtown Los Altos and tech titans Apple and Google, all while providing beautiful homes on large lots — a truly exceptional combination.

Not surprisingly, the prestigious country club itself,  with its stunning 18-hole golf course, remains the gem of the community. Between 2012 and 2013, the club underwent significant remodeling, which resulted in an expanded fitness facility as well as additional upgrades. Club members and visitors alike are enchanted by the stunning vistas. This beautiful club’s congenial and esteemed members, with backgrounds generally in technology and finance, enhance the allure even more.

While Country Club has no shortage of wonderful open space areas for its nature-loving residents to indulge in, easy access to dining, shopping, and entertainment in downtown Los Altos and nearby Mountain View create an ideal quality of life. Luxury, tranquility, and convenience make Country Club a consistently desirable place to call home. The neighborhood children attend the top-notch Los Altos Schools, which include Loyola Elementary, Blach Junior High School, and Mountain View High.
