Cumberland is one of Sunnyvale’s premier neighborhoods, located just north of El Camino Real, Hollenbeck Avenue on the east, Remington Avenue on the south, and Mary Street on the west. Like most of Sunnyvale, this charming neighborhood was initially known for its thriving agriculture with expanses of land and fertile soil, creating ideal conditions for fruit orchards. Streets such as Nectarine, Persimmon, and Fig are a standing reminder of the neighborhood’s orchard farming past. Today the majority of the 700+ homes in the area are Ranch style on up to 7,700 square foot lots, while some grander, two-story homes sit on larger lots of up to 10,000 square feet. However, all of the homes in Cumberland are equally great for hosting family and friends.
Tucked away on tree-lined streets, this stellar neighborhood allows families close proximity to top-rated schools, including Cumberland Elementary, Sunnyvale Middle, and Fremont High. To the delight of commuters and weekend warriors, Highway 85 is only a few blocks away as is the Evelyn Caltrain Station. Adding to the appeal, residents of Cumberland are just steps from Sunnyvale’s award-winning parks, such as the 24-acre tropical-themed Las Palmas Park with its towering palm trees and lush pond, and Mango Park where residents can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreation. Between the two parks, it’s hard to name an activity that you can’t do. As if that wasn’t enough, Sunnyvale Public Library, City Hall, and the Police Department are nearby, as well as convenient shops like CVS, Target, and Starbucks. Comfort, convenience, and close to it all – welcome home!
Cumberland families attend the Sunnyvale School District (Cumberland Elementary and Sunnyvale Middle) and Fremont High.
